Book Reviews

These are a few of my more recent Book reviews:

Everybody Rise

by
I really got sucked into this book from the start. It really is a story of a girl trying to be what she isn't, and finding out to late what was really important. It is also a story of hope and perseverance. Evie stayed with her mom for a while, got a job and started working her way out of debt. It goes to show exactly how much culture can influence people, and shows that there really is a class distinction still in the USA.. Parts of this book related to me in a way I wasn't expecting. I had gotten myself way to far in debt but still pretended all was well. I'm still working on our finances and will continue to work on getting things paid off.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not paid in any way.

Essential Oils Natural Remedies: The Complete A-Z Reference of Essential Oils for Health and Healing

I have been interested in essential oils for a while now, but I never really did any research or reading on them. I even have a couple bottles that were given to me sitting on my dresser, but really I had no idea how to use them, and that I would need a carrier oil for most of them. Essential oils seem to be on trend right now in the U.S. But I never really was sure if they were for more than aromatherapy.
This book gives you all the information you need to learn and start using essential oils for your health. I love how the author starts with the simple essentials, explaining what essential oils are, and ways they are used. The author goes on to explain how the oils are collected and why they are so powerful. Essential oils are natural oils in the plants that are removed and purified for use. Many health issues can improve or even heal completely by using essential oils instead of turning to modern chemicals in drugs.
The book goes into detail listing the essential oils, what they can provide and how they are used. It also includes how to choose your essential oils and how to choose a carrier oil. With recipes for massage oils, and great ideas for mixing your own shampoo, soap, and massage oils, this book becomes a perfect reference for anyone interested in essential oils. Later in the book there are lists of medical issues and how to treat them with essential oils. I am hoping to try some of these soon. The last thing this book goes into are references. It talks about the most popular and the best places to get your essential oils. I have yet to pick a company I desire to get my first essential oils from, but using this book I have a much greater understanding of what essential oils are, how to use them, and how to store them and mix my own oils for my tastes.
Truly this book is just a perfect reference. It teaches the basics, as well as what to watch for when buying oils. It really is the best reference for using essential oils for natural remedies.

Einstein's Beach House

This is a wonderful book of short stories. My favorite happens to be the one about the hedgehog and the crazy lady. Each story is completely different, no theme or anything running through the book, but it really works well. A few of these I could see someone develop into a full book on their own. It really seems like these stories are ideas by the author that couldn't be fully explored, but are still well written and perfect to share with the public.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I was not paid for my review in any way and all opinions are my own

Crystal Kingdom (Kanin Chronicles #3)

I won an advance uncorrected proof of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. So, the little issues I have with this will be corrected out of it before final publication. Basically all I found I didn't like were spelling and Grammer errors, because it is an uncorrected proof.

I love this story! I loved the other I read in this series and this one does not let me down. The idea of magic troll kingdoms hidden from humans but very much present is just a fun idea. With wars and such between kingdoms, and the humans still not finding the troll kingdoms is great. Now, I've always thought of trolls as big ugly and brutish creatures, which some are, but the changelings appear human and are swapped at birth into human homes, replacing the human baby. Kind of a scary thought but great for the story.

This one is a bit more violent than the previous story, but war is a violent thing. I do think this needs a short introduction for those who haven't read the previous story so they will understand what a changeling is, and how they are raised. Without this it may be a bit confusing if the reader starts with this book.

But I love this story, the worlds within our own, and the different kinds of trolls. The trackers are wonderful, but probably need a spot of introduction as well. Anyway, this is a great story for anyone who loves fantasy. I would recommend this to anyone.

I won this book in a goodreads giveaway. I was not paid for my review and all opinions are my own
